Hi Everyone,
This is the latest update on Marc Wisecarver written by Marc's mother,
Charmaine White Face, regarding the impending sentencing to be held on
Aug 10th.
Your thoughts and prayers will be greatly appreciated at this stressful
time.
Aug. 4, 2010 Update on Marc Wisecarver
First of all, Marc wants everyone to know how much he appreciates all
your support. Thank you so much for sending the cards, letters, books, and
donations. It helps him very much to know that many people know he is being
held hostage and do not agree with the procedures that have been used
against him. Other than personal greed on the part of a few people, we
are not sure the other reasons why he is being held hostage. That was his
message today.
Secondly, his sentencing is scheduled for next Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010,
at 9:00 MDST at the Federal Courthouse on 9th St. between Main and St. Joe
in Rapid City, SD. He asks that as many people attend, and take notes, or
bring recorders, or both. We are noticing differences between what is said
during the trials and what is appearing on the transcripts. Also, we have
been having difficulty getting a copy of the recent court transcript. So,
we are asking as many as can to take written notes, and-or recordings so
we can compare these with the actual transcripts.
Thirdly, if you wish to send a letter of support before the sentencing,
it needs to be sent to:
Gary G. Colbath, Jr.
Federal Public Defender
703 Main Street, 2nd Floor
Rapid City, SD 57701
From there it will be given to the Federal Probation Office. However,
just for your information, one of the federal probation officers is also
the one who is leasing Marc’s land without Marc’s permission. Is it a
futule gesture to send a letter? At least Gary Colbath will have received
the letters for the record.
Finally, we know that Judge Battey will probably sentence Marc to at
least ten years in prison as the US Attorney keeps adding on irrelevant and
inaccurate information to increase the amount of time the Judge can use.
This is also what happened last year. Your prayers for both Marc and our
family are very much appreciated. This is a very difficult time for all of
us, but Marc is strong in spirit as he knows he is innocent and did nothing
wrong.
On a personal note, although I am an activist and organizer, in this
case, it is too close to home and I cannot do what I would normally be
doing. Anyone who wishes to lead a campaign on Marc’s behalf would be
really appreciated. I will help in whatever way I can.
Thank you all, again, for all your encouragement and support.
